A guide to having the perfect morning in Milsons Point
Start with a sunrise over the harbour, fill up on French pastries, and roll on down to the markets.
Looking for a cheap but cheerful way to enjoy the best icons that Sydney has to offer? Swap your weekend hangover for the perfect combo of views and eats that Sydney’s Milsons Point (and surrounds) has to offer.
Starting point: Take a sunrise walk from Blues Point Reserve to Milsons Point
Start your morning right with nature. Park the car (if you have one) on Blues Point Road and make an easy pass through to the harbour trail. You’ll immediately be met with iconic views of the harbour. It’s easy to forget (for some of us) that we have that sort of beauty right at our doorstop. Always worth reminding yourself!
And then: Soak up some picture perfect views at Lavender Bay

As you make your way across Blues Point Reserve, you’ll be greeted with one of Sydney’s most iconic viewpoints. If you’re an early bird, catching the sunrise here is beautiful – but regardless of the time of day the Harbour Bridge view alongside the skyline will not fail to impress you.
Step into Wendy Whiteley’s secret garden
Continue your walk and enter Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden. This garden is a labor of love by Wendy Whiteley, the wife of the late Australian artist Brett Whiteley. It’s an oasis filled with lush greenery, winding paths, and hidden sculptures. Take your time to explore and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
Stop at Lou Lou for coffee and croissants
After your walk, it’s time for a well-deserved breakfast. Head over to Lou Lou, a charming French bakery located in Milsons Point. You won’t be disappointed with the classics here; give their plain croissant a go as they’ve perfected the flaky to buttery ratio, or for the more adventurous, they have a range of French specialties both sweet and savoury that will leave you eager to return.
End at Kirribilli Markets
If you’re lucky enough to be there on the right weekend, the Kirribilli Markets are held on the fourth Saturday of every month just a short stroll from Lou Lou’s. The markets feature a diverse range of stalls selling everything from handmade jewellery and vintage clothing to fresh produce and of course plenty of treats.
